We’ve heard this phrase our whole lives, usually with an unspoken ending: as long as you leave.
But Dirt Road Roots offers a fuller truth.
You can go anywhere from here.
And you can stay here and still grow.
Growth doesn’t always look like departure. Sometimes it looks like stewardship. Sometimes it looks like choosing not to abandon what raised you just to be taken seriously.
Rural Black communities have always practiced self-sufficiency out of necessity—gardening, sharing resources, teaching survival skills across generations, making joy out of thin air. That wasn’t backward. That was brilliance.
This work exists at the bridge:
Between country and corporate.
Between elders and youth.
Between tradition and now.
We don’t believe progress requires disconnection. We believe it requires integration.
